How difficult is TransActPOS to learn?

TransActPOS provides a clean user interface which has been utilized by several hundred end-users over the years.  Throughout the history of the TransAct product line, the user interface has remained largely the same.  If the trainer has a good understanding of the site's requirements and recognizes the student's current capabilities, the learning time is short.  To learn the basic point of sale operation, one hour of direct instruction should allow the clerical user to become proficient within only a few hours.

Why should I consider the TransActPOS product line?

The TransActPOS product line is based upon our experience with satisfying our customer's needs and providing logical, cost effective solutions.  Depending upon your store's requirements and your business process, the TransActPOS installation can include specific modules.  As time progresses and your need for additional functionality, activation of the additional module(s) is a straight forward process.

How do I get started?

First consider your long term objectives regarding the automation of your store.  Each of our customers approach our applications in a different manner depending on their business philosophy.  The majority of businesses regard inventory levels, pricing and the order process to be paramount while others emphasize customer account maintenance portion of the business to be most important.  Having a plan and understanding that building a quality installation is much like building a building; with a good foundation the future building will be stable and strong.
  • Assess you current and future business needs

  • Select the appropriate modules to assist in meeting the business needs

  • Become familiar with the relationship between your business objectives and the application's function

  • Determine the source of inventory information and customer information.  For example: vendor item downloads from the internet or some form of text file.  Customer address information may be transferred from a previous system.  We can work with you on both of these.  Availability of information is key to making the installation as smooth as possible.

  • Install and implement the appropriate hardware and associated software applications

  • Install the required TransActPOS applications and establish core parameters (tax rates, users, groups, printer assignments, form modifications, etc...

  • Establish inventory and customer information via best method; conversion from previous version of TransAct, SBT/ACCPAC, POS Systems, Eagle, Triad or import via one of several utilities.

  • Train employees according to their duties; sales clerk, inventory control, accounts receivable, service, etc...

  • Establish on-hand inventory by either import from previous data or establish on-hand quantities with a physical count.
