May 28, 2002 - Commercialization Investment Fund Award Winners

$1.6 Million Invested in Companies and Researchers in Kentucky

Kentucky rolled out a new weapon in its drive to foster high-tech companies:  the first batch of awards authorized by the Kentucky Innovation Act of 2000.  "These awards are designed to aid our companies in creating marketable products from cutting-edge university research products - and to invest in companies taking new technologies to the marketplace," Gov. Paul Patton said in announcing them. 

As called for by the Innovation Act, the money is set up as a set of three venture funds:  The Kentucky Commercialization Fund, The Rural Innovation Fund, and the R&D Voucher Fund.  To learn more about the award winners, please follow the links below.

Project Summary:  TransActPOS is a retail point-of-sale software application designed for use within hardware stores and gift shops. Funds will be used to further refine and complete development of its point-of-sale software, TransActPOS 700. PSDG utilizes state-of-the-art object oriented software to provide a versatile point-of-sale package to fulfill the accounting and inventory needs of retail businesses. This funding will enable PSDG develop SQL database testing, wireless application development, and programming validation.
